Heartbreak Hotel

Yet another derelict sign.... rusting away.

This Heartbreak Hotel is on King Street West.

The photo below is courtesy of the Toronto Archives.

Here we have The London Life Insurance Company and underneath is a United Cigar Store....with a Laura Secord Shop next door.

This intersection does not look like this now.

Of course, the streetcars have been replaced with an underground subway system.

But the place I remember most is just to the right.....The Palace Theatre.

Note the huge neon sign.

The Stem Restaurant

Since I started taking pictures around town of "Ghost Signs", it seemed only natural to progress to old neon signs.

These ones are what's left of restaurants that are no longer in business.

This is (was) the Stem Restaurant at 354 Queen West.

Notice the "S" is missing and the "T" has lost its top.

I've passed this location (on Broadview, just north of Dundas) a great number of times, but never really noticed this old Chinese Food sign.

The sign says: "Chu's Dynasty Cuisine".
